Crossroads relies on volunteers to help us run things smoothly. Our shop team is made up with both staff and volunteers who help us make our shops a success. We also need volunteers for our fundraising events and to do jobs at our day services centre.
There are many reasons to volunteer, including:
Getting the chance to meet new people and make friends
- Gaining new skills, knowledge and experience
- Developing existing skills and knowledge
- Making a difference to your local community
- Gain work experience and improve employment prospects
- Being valued as part of a team
- Gaining confidence and improve self-esteem
- Having the chance to do something fun!

We are always on the lookout for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers in our shops. Volunteering in our charity shops can provide you with an opportunity to learn new skills, make new friends and work as part of a team. We currently have volunteers who are helping us whilst looking for work, who are retired, who are students on work placements and people who work part time. Our volunteers have varied roles including helping customers, operating the tills, pricing stock and sorting through donations.
Our friendly shop staff make volunteering in our charity shops a fun and enjoyable experience.
Crossroads hosts a variety of different fundraising events throughout the year. From murder mystery evening to bake sales, charity balls to quiz nights, there is always something for everyone. Most of our events need volunteers to make sure they run smoothly. Volunteers can choose which events they would like to be involved with and choose how much they want to participate. There is always a range of different tasks including operating tills, collecting money, helping with arts and crafts and running cake stalls. We also welcome teams of volunteers.
If you would like to volunteer for an event please get in touch with our PR/Fundraiser.
We are always on the look out for individual or teams of volunteers to help us with odd jobs. This can include practical tasks such as maintaining our garden at our day services centre or giving our nursery a lick of paint. We also welcome all ideas!
