Superhero Day Raises Funds for Young Carers

On 30th January it was Young Carers Awareness Day across the UK.

We believe that young carers are real life superheroes, so we asked local schools and businesses to dress up as superheroes to support our island's young carers.

We were delighted to see how many of you got involved, and are pleased to announce that over £1,500 has been raised.

It is estimated that there are over 1,000 young people in the Isle of Man who provide care to a parent, sibling, or someone in their family who has an illness, disability or mental health issue.

Crossroads’ Young Carers project runs fortnightly sessions for young carers aged between 5 and 18. We run activity trips on and off island to provide our young carers with regular breaks away from their caring responsibilities and give them the chance to make the most of their childhood.

We think what they do is truly incredible, so would like to thank everyone who has shown their support and taken part in our fundraiser including Henry Bloom Noble Primary School, Bunscoill Rhumsaa, Laxey Primary School, Utopia, Manx Gas and Old Mutual International.
