In January, Crossroads Care launched a three year project in partnership with Old Mutual International that will see them raise money to support our Young Carers project.
The project was launched last week at Old Mutual International’s offices. Members of our Children’s Services team attended the event alongside Crossroads’ CEO, Jackie Betteridge. Staff from Old Mutual International also attended and took part in workshops that informed them about young carers and the work we do to support them. Staff also organised a raffle and bake sale, and a cheque for £15,679 was presented to Jackie by Old Mutual International’s CEO, Peter Kenny.
Old Mutual International have set themselves a target of £60,000 over the three years which will allow us to provide sessions to children who are on our waiting, employ an additional Young Carers Worker which will enable us to give children on the waiting regular fortnightly sessions, and put on a Young Carers Festival in the summer for all young carers on island.
Jackie said: “We are delighted to be working with Old Mutual International to provide more support to our island’s young carers. Our young carers do such a fantastic job and deserve to be given the opportunity to make the most of their childhood and fulfil their potential. Thanks to Old Mutual International we will be able to give more young carers the opportunity to succeed and we are very excited to be working with them over the next three years.”
