Last month Damien O’Toole along with two of his oldest friends, Mark Harvey and Graham Lunn, took on the Way of the Roses, a 170-mile cycle from the East to West Coast of England in aid of three charities including Crossroads Care. They set themselves the challenge of completing this in just two days which they successfully completed.
The trio chose to take on this challenge after Damien’s mum suffered a stroke last year. Thankfully she came through the worst of it but it left her with complete disability down her left side. The stroke robbed her of some of her favourite pleasures including baking, gardening and playing with her grandchildren. Damien’s Dad has become her principle carer.
To show his support to the charities that have helped him and his family, Damien and his friends decided to take on this brilliant challenge to raise much needed funds for three charities. Damien has said the cycle went ‘fantastically well’ and is thrilled to see the challenge has received so much support.
Crossroads Care is thrilled to announce that Damien, Mark and Graham have raised a tremendous amount of £1,214.60 so far, with money still coming in.
We would like to thank Damien, Mark and Graham for supporting Crossroads and for their brilliant fundraising efforts. We would also like to say a huge congratulations on completing this challenge.
